Working in environmental research and management for the first ten years of my career, I became convinced that the solutions we needed for nature conservation could only be achieved with a long-term approach, founded on education. Following my convictions, I re-trained to work as a teacher of science. For the last twelve years I have been a popular and highly successful classroom practitioner, and a champion for environmental education and learning outside of the classroom, in state, independent and international schools in the UK and Sweden. Today, I am convinced more than ever of the transformative power of education to enrich young people's lives and develop the capacities needed in wider society to achieve social and environmental sustainability.
